Airbrush Spay Tanning

What is Airbrush Tanning?

Airbrush tanning is body airbrushing using an FDA approved ingredient, DHA (dihydroxyacetone). It is the same ingredient in all the safe self tanning products. Recent technology has developed very realistic looking color with self tanners. The bulk of the problems encountered with a quality self tanner today lies in application. It is very difficult to apply it well by hand.

The airbrush allows for practically flawless application of a high quality sunless tanner. The natural looking results are largely due to the airbrush itself. It is applied evenly and streak free using this method and can be layered and blended much better than possible by hand.

How does Airbrush tanning work?

Very simply, the DHA reacts with your proteins and amino acids in your skin to bring out your own color. It takes approximately 6 hours for the reaction to complete. But you should still wait 6-8 hours before showering.

How long does the Airbrush Tan last?

The length of your tan is determined by several factors:

  • Your skin type: The drier your skin the faster your tan will tend to fade, so moisturize well.
  • How well the skin is cared for and amount of ‘wear’ it is exposed to.
Only the outermost layer of skin is ‘tanned’. As the skin layer is lost, so is the tan. Wear on your airbrush tan comes from rubbing, soaking in water, long showers, tight fitting clothing or swimming in chlorinated pools.
  • Over exfoliating after your tanning application. Gentle cleansing with a wash cloth is recommended until just before your next application when a thorough scrub is desired.

How long should I allow for treatment?

The application takes 15-20 minutes and it’s recommended that you wait 10 minutes to dry. To be safe, allow yourself 45 minutes for each airbrush session.

What should I do to prepare for the treatment?

A few hours prior to our tanning session, ex foliate your entire body and shave. Avoid moisturizers, oils and deodorants as these can interfere with the tanning solution. Have your face free of cosmetics.
